Reviews
Colada Shop is a frequent favorite of mine for takeout, first dates, or in this case a weeknight happy hour meetup. Everything is reasonably priced, the staff is welcoming / friendly, and the food / drinks are fantastic!
This month (Dec 2023) they have a rotating holiday cocktail menu, with each week featuring two different drinks facing off to win the most votes. I really liked the pomegranate spiced marg-like drink! Will definitely be back to check out the other drinks later this month.
The upstairs bar is filled with holiday decorations for a more festive vibe 🎄
I’ve been here a good few times and this Colada Shop location is truly my favorite. This trip we mostly got snacks: the cheese and guava pastelitos were delicious, and the spinach and cheese empanadas were fantastic! One of my friends tried the dulche de leche brownie and could not recommend it more. Their warm and cold drinks were great, highly recommend the cortadito was absolutely delicious and so was the passion fruit soda.
The outdoor patio, which is so cute, also has some heaters which is so nice because you can still enjoy that beautiful space and view.
Little cafe with cheerful interiors and upbeat Spanish music.
The guava and cheese pastelito is served freshly heated: flakey, crisp layers, with a sweet guava jam and slightly salty soft cheese go perfectly together. I would have liked if the cheese was slightly more salty (or even slightly spicy!) but that’s really just a personal preference.
The Chocolate de la Abuela had no depth (kinda just tasted like Swiss Miss). The cinnamon in the foam was a nice touch, but not worth the price tag overall.
Gorgeous, has a patio with a bar, bright colors. But very small and the music is very loud, especially upstairs. I wanted to study and left because I couldn’t hear myself think. There are wall outlets to charge. More like a bar with coffee than a cafe with alcohol — better for a get together or drink.
Colada shop is a hybrid between a coffee shop/cafe/bar (with a cozy rooftop) and does each of those pieces quiet well.
I’ve been here multiple times with friends and also just on dates and I can say the food and drink have always been quite good. The concept of this place is for the most part very cool and is honestly pretty different from what I’ve experienced in DC.
Very cute sandwich shop. Plenty of street parking if it's not a busy day.
I enjoyed the chicken sandwich..it had sweet onions and a delicious sauce. The empanada was also tasty and the mojito was very refreshing.
Unlike some of the other reviews we definitely didn't find this place quiet. The music was blasting so loud you couldn't hear conversations with someone sitting right next to you. Tables are super small. We sat upstairs right next to bartender which was a mistake because we watched as he kept pouring liquor into his hand and drinking it. He didn't think we saw. We didn't see him wash his hands before serving drinks. It took an hour just to get our food. You either order online or order at the front counter. Then wait for your food at the counter. Salad was pre-packaged. Not sure why it took so long to get the food. Sandwiches tasted OK. But not something to brag about.
This was our first time at Colada Shop for their holiday pop up and we loved it! Drinks DELICIOUS, service downstairs and the rooftop TOP TIER, food AMAZING.
We will definitely be back and shoutout to Fritzy for being the absolute BEST and patient with our silly little group.
Un abrazo 🤗
